Timothy Geithner said Wednesday that he did not expect to serve as Finance Minister. He said he didn’t think President Barack Obama will ask him to keep it if Obama won in the election early.
“He will not ask me to stay, I’m pretty sure,” Geithner said in a Bloomberg television interview. “I am also sure he would have had the privilege of being the Minister of finance.”
Asked for reaction to Geithner’s comments Wednesday, White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage said, “in August, when the President ask Secretary Geithner remains in his position, Secretary Geithner made it clear he intends to leave after the election and the President understood that decision.”
